Team Exergy (West) Report from a Crit at Sea Otter.

Team Exergy has racers in AL., and CA. Here is the first report from the West Coast.

Team Exergy’s West Coast Squad made its presence known today as the four-day Sea Otter Classic got underway in Monterey, California. Team Exergy’s Morgan Schmitt made it into an early break along with Kenda Pro Cycling’s Andy Jacques-Maynes and Simple Green’s Connor McCutcheon. The three riders stayed away from the pack for the remainder of the one-hour criterium.
Their break finished in a 3-up sprint and crossed the line some 40 seconds ahead of the field. Jacques-Maynes took first place, McCutcheon came in second, and Morgan took third for the day. Team Exergy’s Logan Loader easily won the field sprint for fourth place.

According to Director Sportif Tad Hamilton, the boys all rode well while policing the front on today’s difficult course in defense of their teammate's advantage. Each one-mile lap around the bottom end of Laguna Seca Raceway featured two stinging climbs.

Team Exergy’s roster for Sea Otter includes Morgan, hometown favorite Loader, Sam Johnson, Matt Cooke, and Andres Diaz. The day also marked Noe Gianetti's first race with the squad, and his first race in the United States, as he acquitted himself nicely in this uniquely American race. Stage two’s 70-mile road race begins at noon tomorrow. Live coverage is available at www.uride.tv or follow on Twitter @teamexergy #seaotter.
