Breck Epic 2010: Into Day 3

The Breck Epic mountain bike stage race kicked off its 3 of 6 days on Aug. 24. Racers are tackling 240 miles on six different courses starting at 10,000 to 12,500 feet. Ouch!

The 3rd day there is a knot of (WN) pro men vying for the lead in the open cat., Cannondale Factory Racing teammates (WN) Alex Grant, (WN) Jeremiah Bishop and (WN) Ben Sonntag as well as Matt Shriver (Fort Lewis College) and Josh Tostado (Bach Builders/Santa Cruz).

(WN) Bishop won stage one on Sunday while (WN) Grant nipped Bishop by a bike length on Monday. Tostado, Shriver and (WN) Sonntag crossed the line less than 10 seconds behind Grant and Bishop on stage two.

Pua Sawicki (WN Okolestuff.com) leads the women’s solo open division ahead by over 1 hour to 2nd place Ivonne Craft (Squirt) and Tammy Jacques (Eriksen).
